6. Total Number of Interviewees Referred: For the period from January 23, 2009 to January 22, 2010, this Employment Unit interviewed 11 interviewees for full-time job vacancies.
7. Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives.
(A) Initiative: Implemented and sustained an internship program. The Employment Unit has had a total of 17 interns over the course of this reporting period. They have worked in the promotions, sales, programming and production departments.
Their tasks included attending and working station events, office duties such as filing, data-base entry, assisting in prize coordination as well as other day to day office assignments. The internship program is designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.
Our interns are supervised by our Director of Marketing (WGRF-FM, WEDG-FM, WHTT-FM) and our Promotions Director (WGRF-FM) & our General Sales Manager. Dates of each internship are as follows:

The Employment Unit has received referrals from the following colleges, universities and high schools: Lancaster High School, Medaille College, SUNY Cortland, SUNY Fredonia, Hamburg High School, Buffalo State College and University at Buffalo.
The Employment Unit's Promotions Directors usually send flyers or letters to area colleges/high schools to alert them to our need for interns. Notices are also posted on our station websites as well as broadcast on-air to alert potential candidates. The Employment Unit also screens potential interns at Station sponsored job fairs and responds to College Internship literature sent to us via mail when colleges alert us of interns colleges have available.
B: Initiative:
Genesseeo Community College – February 2009:
WEDG Program Director spoke with Broadcasting class regarding career in radio and different broadcasting employment opportunities. Also participated in a Q & A session with students.
Orchard Park High School – April 2009:
General Manager spoke to the high school advertising class about careers in radio and the broadcast industry. One hour session with presentation and question and answer.
Medaille College Career Day: November 2009:
General Mangaer spoke to 100+ graduating seniors about career opportunities in broadcast. Participated in an Q&A session with members of local television stations to answer questions about the career opportunities in the industry. Stayed for additional 2 hours to meet and speak directly 1-1 with candidates with private questions and answers.
Orchard Park Middle School Career Days – November 2009:
General Manager spoke to two (2) classroom sessions of middle school students to speak about opportunities in broadcasting. Each 1 hour session talked about the life skills needed and what may be expected as these students enter the workforce upon graduation.
